Admission
Can I transfer from a private university to Kuwait University, and what are the conditions?
Quick answer
Yes, under Kuwait University's 2026/27 admission and transfer guide: you must be a regular bachelor's student at an accredited university, with at least 45 credits passed and a cumulative GPA of 2.67 (B-) or higher, 15 of them equivalent to courses in the college you want. You must not have been dismissed, or out of study for more than a year.
- Law, Sharia and Social Sciences need a 3.00 GPA, and Architecture 3.33.
- Applications for the second semester of 2026/27 run from 13 December 2026 to 14 January 2027; the application fee is KD 10.
- A course is equated only with a C or better, the foundation year doesn't count, and you must complete at least 30 credits at KU (15 in your major).
- The university and the major must be accredited by Kuwait's National Bureau for Academic Accreditation at the time of admission, and meeting the conditions doesn't guarantee a place.
- First-semester transfers are for Kuwaiti nationals only, and Law, Architecture and Public Health take transfers in the first semester only.
